Gateway Program

In 2025 Rooty Hill High School is again partnering with their local learning neighbourhood of schools to offer a series of courses focussed on engaging students with strategies to reach their potential.

Rooty Hill High School is offering students 5 days of lessons to stretch the imagination and skills of students who will be taught by industry experienced teachers in the following 3 areas:

  • Stream 1: Mathematical and Technological studies

This will focus on extending students' mathematical thinking and applying math thinking to new situations. There will also be lessons on computer coding, preparing students for future success.

  • Stream 2: Natural and Sports Sciences

This will focus on Science and Geography skills, investigating the natural world and human endeavours within it. Students will also experience the science behind sports and improve their agility and teamwork skills.

  • Stream 3: Creative and Performing Arts

This will focus on performances in areas including visual arts, dance, music and drama. the creation of texts that elevate student self expression and the investigation of historical sources.

Selection will take place by primary schools for this free program. Students will be offered a place who have demonstrated a strong passion for learning and keen interest in getting involved in new and innovative ways of understanding the world around them.

There will be a limit of 60 places in total to students from across the local learning network which includes Minchinbury Public School, Eastern Creek Public School, Rooty Hill Public School, and Mount Druitt Public School.

Participants will need to ensure they can make their own way to and from Rooty Hill High School on each of the days.

Dates:

  • Term 2, Week 3 14/5/25 and Week 9 25/6/25

  • Term 3: Week 3 6/8/25 and Week 9 17/9/25

  • Term 4 Week 3 29/10/25
