Rooty Hill High School has a comprehensive Career Education service for its students.
Our Careers Adviser is Mrs Deborah Cunningham and Jeanette Camillos. Ms Cunningham and Camillos can be contacted via the school office.
The Rooty Hill High School Career Education program provides students with the following services:
- Individual and group interviews with students and parents as requested
- Regular communication of careers information through Careers Newsletters
- School to Work and work ready programmes
- Work Experience for Year 10 students.
- On line career planning and individual student profiles
- Excursions to industry, TAFE, universities and expos
- Year 10 Career Seminars focusing on topics such as: the use of the Job Guide and other career related websites, HSC subject selection, employability skills, apprenticeships and traineeships, tertiary education etc.
- Development of students resumes and assistance with cover letters
- Assistance with all areas of tertiary applications including university, TAFE and apprenticeships/traineeships
- Assistance with employment opportunities and tax file number application. (Application forms available from the Careers Adviser. After the forms are completed and checked they are sent to the taxation department who then forward the number to the student's nominated address.)
- Establishing links with industry and employers
- Developing awareness of WH&S (Workplace Health and Safety) for workplace learning activities
